<title>Perspective of Tension and Cooperation in the South Caucasus: Russia, regional powers and the West</title>
         <link>http://www.iraneurasia.ir/en/pages/?cid=1331</link>
<description>IRAS: The South Caucasus region consists of three states (Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan) and four autonomous republics (Abkhazia, Ossetia, Karabakh and Nakhjavan) located among three regional powers, i.e. Iran, Russia and Turkey, and the EU and the US try to increase their influence in the region. But the main point is: given the developments of the past twenty years and the present situation, what is the future perspective of the region? What possibilities and opportunities are there for cooperation or tension? The author claims that although the capacities for tension in the region are more than those for cooperation and the current trends of the region lesser move towards cooperation, but some opportunities are emerging that may help to create cooperation.</description>
